He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Trish"; his children, Matt Johnston, Joe Johnston (Melissa Edgren) and Jill Lam (Man San "Sunny"); his adoptive son Paul Essel (Pearl); his grandchildren, Mira Lockwood-Johnston, Ben Lockwood-Johnston, Fiona Lam, Naomi Lam, Henry Lam, Percy Essel, Paden Essel and Primrose Essel; his brother James "Jim" Johnston; his stepsiblings, Peg Steiner (Bob) and Norm Hartz (Karen); his nephew Tom Johnston; his niece Nancy Warman (Byron); and his great-niece Kyalynn Johnston.
