Robert Fred Parker Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert F Parker (San Jose, California), who passed away on December 21, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Robert Fred “Bob” Parker passed away in his home the morning of December 21, 2022 in San Jose, California surrounded by family. Born in Endicott, New York, on August 7, 1935, and raised in Binghamton, he moved to California as a young man, where he met the love of his life, Myrna. They had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in October.
Bob was drafted into the US Army and stationed in Hawaii in 1953 and continued to serve in the Reserves for several years. While stationed in Hawaii, Bob and Myrna welcomed their first daughter, Joyce. The family then moved to San Jose, where they welcomed a second daughter, Lisa. He remained there for the rest of his life.
Bob loved to work with his hands and fix things. After retirement, he kept busy by always finding new projects to work on, whether it was fixing something around the house or finding a problem to solve with some creative means. Bob was an avid bowler and continued bowling until this past summer. He also gave his daughters a love of the outdoors through annual camping trips to the mountains. His other hobbies included woodworking, metal detecting, fishing, collecting antiques, watching movies, rooting for the 49ers and Athletics, and dining out with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna, and two daughters, Joyce and Lisa, along with his grandchildren, Chris, Kayla, and Zach. He is also survived by his brother, David, his sister, Patty, his niece, Rosemary, and his beloved dog, Brody.
Bob will be interred at San Joaquin National Cemetery on January 9, 2022 at 1 PM in a private family service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
