Pauline DiemAnh Nguyen Obituary

Pauline Diemanh Nguyen was born in San Jose, CA on November 6, 1984. She is survived by her parents, Phuc Nguyen and Tuyethanh Nguyen, her two younger sisters, Tiffany Nguyen and Natalie Nguyen, brother-in-law, Edward Luong, and future brother-in-law, Michael Sharp.

Pauline went to Norwood Creek Elementary School, Quimby Oak Middle School, and Archbishop Mitty High School. She was an accomplished academic and attorney graduating from the University of California, Davis, in 2006 with a double major bachelor's degree in English and Political Science, receiving her Juris Doctorate at Gonzaga University Law School in 2009, and completing her Masters of Law in Health Law at Georgetown University in 2017. She was a member of both the California and Washington State Bars. She worked as a Supervising Attorney, Mediator, and Adjunct Professor at the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA, and went on to work as an Associate Attorney for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC. She cared deeply about serving her community and participated in volunteer opportunities such as rebuilding homes affected by Hurricane Katrina through Rebuilding Together New Orleans and coaching her local youth girls’ basketball team.

Pauline was a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend. She lit up the room with her charismatic, inclusive, witty, and caring personality and was often known to be the protector and uniter of our family members. She brought the family together countless times, for family reunions, trips, or a nice dinner for the cousins. She cared deeply about her family, accompanying them at doctors visits when they were sick, and helping by translating or just being there to comfort them. She was also an athlete spending her formative years playing basketball for the local NJB and AAU teams and was an avid Bay Area sports fan, making it a point to attend 49ers, Giants, Warriors, or Sharks games when possible.

She loved adventure and was always searching for the next place to visit, food to eat, and person to meet. She enjoyed traveling and made it a life goal to visit all the MLB stadiums in the United States. She had a chance to travel the world from Italy, Spain, Peru, Ireland, and one of her favorite cities, Mexico City. She was also known to be a great cook and oftentimes spent her weekends at Whole Foods and the farmers market to support local businesses and feed her hungry friends and relatives with a delicious home cooked meal. She had a heart of gold and was always thoughtful of others. Pauline passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2022 at the age of 38 in San Jose, CA. She was loved and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A Catholic funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 am on December 2, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi in San Jose, CA. Father Lieu Vu will officiate the mass. In lieu of flowers, it would be Pauline’s wish to donate to a charity that supports equal access to healthcare and wellness services for all (AACI: https://aaci.org). The Nguyen family would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
