She was predeceased by: her brother Patrick Cashell of Ireland; and her grandson Kieran Dyer of Los Gatos. She is survived by: her husband John; her children, Neil Smith (Kristin) of Petaluma, Claire Kalia (Anil) of Los Gatos, Jen Dyer (Sean) of Los Gatos and Drew Smith of San Francisco; her grandchildren, Anjali, Lila, Liam Kalia of Los Gatos, Poppiano Nelson-Smith of Petaluma and Finn Dyer of Los Gatos; and her siblings, Nuala Rush, Mercy O'Callaghan and Eamonn Cashell of Ireland.
A Mass was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Heaven Cemetery. A burial was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery (22555 Cristo Rey Dr, Los Altos, CA 94024).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carmel's name to the LUNGevity Foundation.
