He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Phil Carroll and Roma Carroll; his wife Jamie Carroll (Phipps); his children, Ryan Carroll (Nikki) and Michelle Peterson (Reilly); and his grandchildren, Levi, Saffron, Vada and Vance.

In lieu of flowers, any memorial donations in honor of Sam are encouraged to go to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or can be distributed as such by the family.
