He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Jackson Lipsey and Dorothy "Dottie" Mae Lipsey-Hayes (Ward); his half-sister Mary; his stepfather Earl Hayes; and his stepsister Dreama Hayes.

He is survived by: his brother Ronald "Ronnie" Lipsey; his spouse Suzy; his siblings, Debbie, Beverly, Laura, Chuck, Patty, Jennifer and Randy; and his grandchildren, Ethan, Seth and Evelyn.

In lieu of flowers the Lipsey family asks that donations be made to Casas de Luz, an Encinitas-based nonprofit organization where volunteer carpenters build cottage homes for the homeless in San Diego County and in Mexico.
