It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Juanita Freelen (San Diego, California), born in Jasper, Texas, who passed away on June 5, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Thelma Woods and Willie Woods; her husband Joe Freelen; her daughter Jerlene Wilson; her son-in-law Herbert Wilson; and her granddaughter Paulette Wilson.

She is survived by: her friend Carol Leggett (Helen); her granddaughter Deborah Calhouun; her great grandchildren, Cory, Christopher, Brittany, Patrice, Rakeem, Isaiah and Keyuanna; and her sister Merlene Horn of Houston. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and countless friends.
