He is survived by: his wife Kay McCarthy; his daughter Susan Hering (Paul) of Poway, CA; his grandchildren, Bradley (Elaina) of San Diego, Jenna Hering (Los Angeles) and Scott Hering (San Diego); his nephew Mark Shellabarger; and his niece Kathy Neukamm (Shellabarger).
