“I was Helen's tenant from 2001-2003 for my first 2 years in Chinese medicine school. I was too shy to get to know Helen well, but her kindness and welcoming spirit touched me deeply. I was also impressed by her home-repair skills when she came and fixed a leaky faucet herself! I am back visiting San Diego for the first time in many years and hoped to stop in and visit her. “So sorry to hear of her passing. I used to live across the street from her in Kensington. I also knew her son Victor, albeit briefly, when he would come to the Ukrainian church in Los Angeles.
