He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Andrew Kringen; his children, Janet Thompson (Terrie) of Eagan, MN and Andrew (Dawnette Davis) of Grand Rapids, MN; his grandchildren, Siri Thompson, Nate Thompson (Suchi), Joel Soden (Mallory), Marta Soden (Ryan) and Elisa Schaar (Steve); his great grandchildren, Addison, Charlotte, Arlo, Cora, Kira and Evan; and his daughter Peggy.

Memorials are suggested for St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Olaf College, or the Northfield Public Library.
