She was predeceased by: her parents, Sofia Robascotti Corda Benardello and Giovanni Benardello; her husband William Lowry Backus; and her nieces, Kay Barrett, Joy Barrett and Judy Barrett Westcott.

She is survived by: her brother Lincoln Corda; her aunt Lucy Robascotti Jacob; her uncle Zivetzio Jacob; her sister Hazel Corda Barrett; her children, Sally, Lowry Alkire and Bill; her grandchildren, Gia Alkire, Will and Michael Backus; her nephews, Dave Barrett, Joe Barrett and Ron Corda (Cynde); her niece Pam Corda Lopp (Gary); her aunt June; and her close friend Sheba.

Remember—we are waving her "goodbye," but there are many on the other side (Zia and Ella, Hazel and Lincoln, Connie, Shirley, Gladys, and Beth among them) who are waving madly and saying,"Here comes Junie!"Mama's favorite charity was Dorothy's Kitchen and a donation in her name would be gratefully appreciated.
