He was predeceased by: his parents, Sheila Mares and Daniel Mares; and his brother Tim. He is survived by: his wife Deborah; his brothers, Thomas (Karen) and Larry Mares; his children, Tina (Curtis), Nicholas (Dana), Michael, Shannon (Beth), Lindsey (Andrew) and Ryan (Zazil); and his great grandchild Sadie. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Preston and Simon's Mortuary (3358 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA 92501). A burial was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM at the Riverside National Cemetery (22495 Van Buren Boulevard, March Air Reserve Base, CA 92518). A reception was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Smith Residence (32350 Stratford Ln, Menifee, CA 92584).
