He was predeceased by: his wife Tena Vandenakker. He is survived by: his children, Jan van den Akker, Popkje Haisma, Pauline Meninga (Don), Carol Albanese (Tony), Jacqueline van den Akker and Rosemary Clyde (Tom). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
His strictly Christian education served as a spiritual foundation for his life.
