William John McCall Obituary
Pastor William (Will) John McCall passed away in Redlands, CA, on December 21, 2022, at the age of 74 after a difficult two-year battle with lymphoma. He was surrounded by family and the prayers of his friends.
Will was born in Missoula, Montana on December 7, 1948, to William Melvin and Joann Joyce (Lake) McCall. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Allgaier McCall; his children Naomi Celeste Petrik (Todd), Noah Keanuenue McCall (Leta), Mercy Michelle Dizon (Gus); his brother Bruce McCall (Shauna); and his grandchildren Mikaela, Sydney and Alexa Petrik, Ezra, Silas and Jonah McCall, and Ayden and Chasin Dizon. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pastor McCall was a Seventh-day Adventist pastor for 38 years before retiring in 2020. His pastoral ministry began in Arkansas and continued with churches in Louisiana, Maryland, and California, including 18 years at his final church, Canoga Park Community Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor McCall was an avid reader and student of history, particularly ancient history. He would often incorporate into his sermons various stories and illustrations from the books he read. He liked to write and he published numerous articles in various Adventist publications.
Pastor McCall also loved music, nature, and healthful living—a love that he shared with his wife and passed down to his children. He often said the favorite times in his life were the times he spent with his family and grandchildren.
Though he faced many struggles throughout his life, he held firmly to Christ’s promise to return to end all sorrow and death. Pastor McCall’s memorial service will be held on January 28, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Canoga Park Community Seventh-day Adventist Church in Winnetka, California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to San Fernando Valley Academy, which he supported strongly during his ministry because of his belief in Adventist Christian education.
