He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Armin Hinkleman and Virginia "Dorlye" Hinkleman; his sister Cindy Jo; his spouse Lorrie Prill of Bloomington; his former spouse Jody Lapoint; and his granddaughter Emma.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory can be directed to a memorial fund established in his name at Christ the King.
