With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Kinoshita Higashi (Rancho Palos Verdes, California), born in Bakersfield, California, who passed away on December 9, 2018 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by: her husband Paul; her son Andrew; and her brothers, George, Ben, John, Dave and Ted Kinoshita.

She is survived by: her parents, Tomoichi Kinoshita and Chiyoko Kinoshita; her daughters, Paula A. Higashi (Fred Taugher) of Elk Grove and Elizabeth M. Higashi of Naples, FL; her brothers, Robert and Fred of Bakersfield; and her grandson Christopher Higashi Morrow of Kildeer, IL. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, the Poston Community Alliance, or the First Presbyterian Church of San Pedro operating fund.
