She and her late husband, John, went to great lengths not to spend a dime, a nickel, or even a penny on their tenants’ wellbeing or needs — even going so far as to risk toddlers lives — instead of taking necessary safety precautions in the homes they owned, all while continually raising the rent exorbitantly. Clearly the fossil remnants of Depression-era penny-pinching. Now gone, like a mustard burp in the wind.”
