He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Barela and Rafaela Barela; and his siblings, Ernest, Joe, Willie, Johnny Barela, Maria and Irene Barela.
He is survived by: his wife Nora Barela of Parlier; his children, Freddie Barela of Fowler, Tina Barela of Parlier, Erica Alatorres of Fresno and Lynette Barela of Kingsburg; and his siblings, Eddie Barela of Parlier, Frank Barela of Parlier, Albert Barela of Fresno, Steve Barela of Fowler, Ruben Barela of Parlier, Isabel Cortez of Parlier and Ida Hernandez of Sanger. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
