It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Sailor Balch Lee of Palo Alto, California, who passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Sailor and Louise Sailor. She is survived by: her half-brothers, George and Charles Sailor; her former husband William Balch; her husband Frank F. Lee; her sons, Benjamin Sailor Balch of Newton, MA, Nathaniel Small Balch of Durham, NH and William McKay "Barney" Balch (Patricia Matrai) of Newcastle, ME; her stepchildren, Margaret Lee Peterson (Phil Peterson) of Albuquerque, NM, Burton H. Lee of Palo Alto, CA and Susan F. Lee; her grandchildren, Eliza (Lilly), Sara (Noah), Emily and Thomas (Ashley); her stepgrandchildren, Phillip and Sis; her great grandchildren, Freya and Finnigan; and her stepmother Ruth Sailor Balch Lee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in Ruth's name to the Rhode Island School of Design (class of 1949; Alumni Office, 20 Washington Place, Providence, RI 02903) or the Salvation Army of Santa Fe (525 W. Alameda Street, Santa Fe, NM, 87501).
