Nicholas I. Skandalakis D. Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nicholas I. Skandalakis D. of Palm Desert, California, who passed away on June 13, 2007, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Iakovos "Koumis" Skandalakis and Fotini Kalkandi Skandalakis; and his siblings, Anastasios "Tasos" Skandalakis and Maria "Marigoula" Filander. He is survived by: his wife Melia Skandalakis; his sisters, Ageliki Eliopoulos, Aphrodite Boosalis, Martha Kaperonis and Demetra Kavadas; and his sister-in-law Zizika Lafkas. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Dr. Skandalakis was also a philanthropist, and donated over a quarter million dollars in assets to the Long Beach Community Hospital Foundation. His donation of land near that hospital is now home to a cancer and medical imaging center.
