He is survived by: his mother Joyce Powell (Hicks) of Ames, IA; his wife Jody Powell of Oroville, CA; his daughter Samantha; his son-in-law Dana Gorbet of Ames, IA; his sisters, Celeste Miller of Johnston, IA and Elaine Powell of Portland, OR; his nieces and nephews, Amanda, Logan Northam, Caleb Powell, Edwin Ascroft, Sydney, Simone and Willow Miller; his parents-in-law, Virgil and Sandra Northam of Oroville, CA; his siblings-in-law, Tracy and Lisa Northam of Oroville, CA; his close friend Herman Wendell; his pets, Molly and Mia; his adoptive mother Hope Davis; and his granddaughter Hannah Davis.

He volunteered many hours to the C.A.S.T. for kids' foundation, which works to enrich the lives of children with special needs through fishing.
