He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret "Jean"; his daughter Elizabeth Smith; his parents, Josephine Smith and Orville Smith; and his brother John.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Smith (Christine), Linda Lockwood (Dwight), Diana Yoder (William) and Jeannie Smith-Ball (David); his grandchildren, Michael, Kevin Smith, Trisha Marrello (John), Ryan, Dwight Lockwood, Nicolette Mueller (Ryan), Lauren Hottman (A. K.) and Robert Nicholson (Theresa); and his siblings, Adeline Hoholik (late Ed), William, Mary Zylstra (late Jack), Bernadette Hynes (late Jack), James, Albert (Carole) and Thomas (late Kate).
Due to the pandemic, a memorial will be planned at a later date.
