After completing "Boot Camp' at Great Lakes, Illinois, Bob was transferred to Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. In November 1951 Bob married his best friend and devoted wife of 67 years, Lorraine (Markt) Yates. Upon the completion of this tour of duty at Pensacola, and after a month as a shoe sales man with Napa's J.C. Penny, both agreed that a career in the Navy would be an adventure of a life time and Bob reenlisted. With Lorraine by his side they were stationed around the United States. Bob retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander from the Nuclear Power School, Mare Island in January 1975. After retirement, Bob and Lorraine traveled around the United States in their RV for 10 months. Upon returning home Bob went to work as a Tour Guide for Beringer Winery, retiring in July 1991 as VP of Human Resources. After Bob's second retirement he and Lorraine continued to enjoy traveling the country in their motor home visiting friends, taking their great granddaughter on occasion and making their annual crabbing trip to Charleston, Oregon. Bob served as a member of the Civil Service Commission for the City of Napa, President for the Napa Valley Navy League and worked on several events for the Queen of the Valley Medical Center Foundation. Bob is survived by his loving wife Lorraine, their daughter Roberta (Yates) and husband Dave (Schwarze) grand daughter Amie (Fowler) and great granddaughter Kaila (Fowler). At Bob's request there will be no service. He did say if anyone wants to donate to Queen of the Valley Hospital, Collabria or a charity of your choice that you can do. favorite_border Donations Pledges.
