He was predeceased by: his son Tona Hernandez. He is survived by: his significant other Rose Schollar; and his daughters, Mali Martinez (Gerry) and Ita Hernandez-Maldonado (Roy).
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be established through the St. Helena Unified School District to benefit students who would like to pursue a college education, as this was one of his hopes for the youth.
