He was predeceased by: his former wife Chanda Sapre; and his siblings, Vijaya Desai and Prakash Sapre. He is survived by: his wife Vidya Hardikar Sapre; his sisters, Sushama "Nima" Moghe and Kalavati "Usha" Athalye; his daughters, Nandita Sapre and Monica Lloyd (John); and his grandchildren, Deven, Leena and Kelsy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dr. Sapre's honor to the Jnana Prabodhini Foundation, http://www.jnanaprabodhinifoundation.org, which will use funds to care for people whose health has been negatively affected by working in the tobacco industry in India.
