He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Virgil Sr. Pixley; his former wife Shirley June Atchison; his children, Kimberly Peart, Teresa Montiel, Leah LaValley, Tenea Fleming, Ranae Allen and Thomas Hughes; and his sisters, Georgia Kennedy, Celeste, Christine and Peggy Brown. He was also cherished by 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
