She was predeceased by: her father Juan Mendoza. She is survived by: her mother Elvia Castillo; and her children, Elsa Biedenweg (Dean, Jr.), Vanessa Blanco and Juan Blanco, Jr. (Lourdes). She is also survived by six siblings and a large extended family.
