He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Zarate and Eleanor Zarate (Gomez); his children, Melinda, Ralph R. Zarate and Mary Zarate (Parga); his wife Henrietta Zarate (Aguilar); and his brother Richard Zarate.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elizabeth Tate (Robert), Cynthia McKinley (Bart) and Trini Z. Chavez (Mago); and his grandchildren, Crystal Wilson (James), Craig Zarate, Benjamin Tate, Justin McKinley, Crystal Marshall, Tyler McKinley and Roman Chavez.
