He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary Ann Smith; his children, Brandon Smith and Lindsay Racen; his grandchildren, Eleanor Darbysmith, Hendrik Darbysmith, Lennox Darbysmith and Bobbi Racen; his children-in-law, Amanda Darby and Robert Racen; and his parent Hennie.
