Peggy Joyce (McConnel) Hixson Obituary
Peggy Joyce Hixson passed away on Thursday April 30 after a valiant battle with cancer.
She had a multitude of friends and left a caring legacy through her many contributions to better the lives around her, both near and far.
Peggy was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and moved to California with her family at the age of four.
She graduated from Castro Valley High School and attended College at San Jose State University.
She met and married the love of her life, Dick Hixson, and together they raised a family and built a successful Photography business from the ground up. Along with this she worked as an Office Coordinator and Bookkeeper for several Chiropractors in the Martinez area.
For 25 years Peggy was the CEO of the non-profit called "The Holiday Project" which benefited lonely Nursing Home patients all across Contra Costa County. They were never alone or without a gift on Christmas Day under her watchful care.
Peggy had a myriad of friends through the many organizations to which she belonged and was an avid Genealogist and Creative Artist throughout her lifetime. She adored her Shelties and is dearly missed by her sweet dog "Terra"
Peggy is survived by her loving Husband, Dick; devoted children, Daughter, Rise Hixson of Alameda,
and Son, Eric (Linda) Hixson of Rancho Cordova, and her Sister-in-law Linda (Merle) Maggy of Hayward.
Her generous loving spirit and true kindness will be missed by all who knew her.
