He was predeceased by: his parents, Naoichi Shinmoto and Hisayo Shinmoto (Okita); his son Owen Shinmoto; and his nephew John P. N. Heza. He is survived by: his daughters, Janine Geredes and Vivian Johnson (Douglas Johnson); his sister Florence Heza; his niece Deborah Oakham (James Oakham); and his grandchildren, Sydney, Jared Geredes and William Johnson.
