It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Ray Upton of Madera, California, born in Bakersfield, California, who passed away on November 24, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, J. W. Upton and Marilyn Upton; and also, Rev. Cleo and Vera Martin. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Elaine Martin; his children, Julie, Robert Slayton of Madera Ranchos, Jared Upton and Tyler of Madera; his siblings, Terry Jones of Madera and Susan Burns of Madera; his grandchildren, Shaw, Mikaela Bowman of Georgia, Avery Bo, Jackson and Ryder Slayton; and his pets, Archie and Juniper.
