John Joseph Pernick Jr. Obituary
John was born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to Clara and John Pernick Sr. He moved at an early age to Cleveland, Ohio where he grew up.
He entered the United States Navy at age 18, where he was assigned to a Nuclear Submarine. He was honorably discharged from the Navy at age 22.
He moved to San Jose, Ca to pursue education in Psychology and received a Bachelor degree from San Jose State University. He met his wife, Joan through a mutual friend and married in 1970. He joined the Los Gatos Police Force in 1974, where he worked as a Police Officer and Homicide Detective for 27 years, until he retired.
John is survived by his wife, Joan Pernick, children Michael and Christine Pernick, daughter in law Marie Pernick, Granddaughter Amberlynn Pernick, sisters Sandy Rhodes and Susan Pernick, and brother in law Dan Kaye.
John loved road trips with his family, golf with his wife and friends, John Wayne, war and Hallmark movies. He loved the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State. He especially loved Christmas and Thanksgiving with his family and taking care of his granddaughter during summers.
