He was predeceased by: his parents, Apolonio Armendariz and Catalina Armendariz; his wife Amelia; his son Anthony; and his siblings, Manual, Emelia (Hassenplug), Louis and Ralph.

He is survived by: his brothers, Patrick and Ernest; and his children, Danny, Michael, Patricia (Kennedy), Catherine (Mayes), Joseph Jr., Ann Marie (Ising) and Margaret (Petherbridge). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
