He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Chum Ean; and his wife Sundary Kim. He was also cherished by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Sarun served as a treasurer and philanthropist in the Long Beach community by collecting donations to help start and support many temples in Cambodia.
