John Reed Prosser Obituary
John Prosser, 76, of Long Beach, CA passed away peacefully on April 3, 2022, surrounded by his family and loved ones. John Reed Prosser was born on September 4, 1945 in New York. The Prosser family stayed in New York for 4 years until relocating to Corte Madera, California. John attended Redwood Highschool then UC Sand Diego ending at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara pursuing a medical degree. John was a decorated veteran who served in Vietnam. He went on to work as a Family Practitioner in Long Beach for over 40 years, receiving many certificates of honor, appreciations and teaching accolades. His biggest passion in life was music, as an avid bass player, John played in Warlocks, Sons of Chaplains, On Call band and many others. With his free time he also enjoyed softball, camping, water and snow skiing. John will be dearly missed and always remembered!
John was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Catherine Prosser. He is survived by his devoted children: J.R. Prosser (Michelle) of Long Beach, James Prosser (Evelyn) of Hercules, Jill Johnston of Los Alamitos; loving grandchildren: Cameron, Logan and Blake Prosser; Isabella and Luna Prosser; Brady, Jake and Beau Johnston. John is also survived by his fiancé, Janet Pick and sister, Janet Prosser Tobin (Dan) of Corte Madera and niece Lauren Tackett (Matt) of Los Osos.
John requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of John’s loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at Cerritos Crossroads 12229 Del Amo Blvd, Cerritos on May 23 at 1pm. A special thanks goes to all of John's wonderful friends, who have endlessly visited, sent cards and get well wishes to him throughout the years. In addition, a thanks of gratitude goes to Janet Pick, who has been part of the family and has continuously helped, assisted and loved him in the past years.
