He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lynn Avery and Margaret Maxine (Jones); his wife Betty Avery of North Hollywood; his sister Ann (Andres); and his granddaughter Emily Rose.

He is survived by: his daughters, Janice Marie Avery of Texas and Laura Lynn Compian (Johnny) of California; his siblings, Lynn Avery (Diane) of Arizona and Nancy Avery of California; and his grandchildren, Michael Compian, Charlie Avery and Saira Canales. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask people to donate to Marley's Mutts (https://www.marleysmutts.org) in his name.
