He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Tom Burton and Carol Burton; his wife Norma López-Burton; his children, Leslie Burton-Lopez (Kirsten Burton) and Tab Burton (Monica Silva); his grandchildren, Amelia Riley Burton and Thomas Julian Burton; and his siblings, Kathy Robertson, Diane Heath and James Burton.
He was dedicated to group grief therapy for his clients at the Triangle Community Center, and individual virtual therapy administered from his bed during the pandemic.
