Bernice Perchez Obituary

Bernice Perchez, 69, passed on November 19, 2022, surrounded by family at Loma Linda University Medical Center. She was married for 42 years and had two daughters. She was a homemaker who was vibrant and giving. She enjoyed watching the children of her nieces and nephews and loved them like they were her own.

Bernice had an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up the room. She gave much of herself, not just to her family and friends, but to those she'd just met. She was proud of her daughters' accomplishments and would tell strangers in the grocery store about their achievements. She loved taking long drives with her husband and doing yard work. She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and would approach strangers who wore their memorabilia.

Bernice was a longtime member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and was baptized in 1980 at the Pomona Seventh Day Adventist church. Since 2012 she has been a member of the Chino Seventh Day Adventist fellowship, where she was beloved by her fellow members.

She enjoyed doing word searches and playing candy crush. In her 20s, she was in a bowling league and participated in tournaments. Her love of bowling transferred to playing video games with her daughters, even though she wasn't sure how to use the remotes. She would almost always beat them and do a celebratory dance each time.

Bernice was a kid at heart, and that young and free spirit attracted many. She was charismatic and was so full of life. She loved playing with her niece's and nephew's children, even riding their scooters to prove to them that she could.

Her husband, Michael Perchez, survives Bernice; her daughters, Jamie Perchez and Leslie Perchez; her siblings, Belynn Tayaba, Carlos Fierro, and Lydia Miranda.

To honor Bernice's memory, we will celebrate her life sometime in the future. We invite anyone who knew her to attend and remember her remarkable life. We ask attendees to wear blue or Dallas Cowboys or Dodgers memorabilia.
