He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jean Soper; and his grandson Eric Nietschke. He is survived by: his daughter Maridee Nietschke (David); his granddaughter Tammy Drescher (Tom); his great grandchild Troy Drescher Tambria Drescher; his son James Burr; and his grandchild Delta. He is also survived by friends as a loving father.
Memorial contribution to the Naval Museum in DC in his honor is planned by his family.
