He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Roy Franklin and Evelyn Franklin; his former wife Barbara Lee Smalling; his grandchildren, Julie Clemings, Jennifer Marzolf, Jon Schon, Kenneth Schon, Joshua Franklin, Sarah Franklin, Tarah Duncan, Robert Renteria and Robin Brazil; and his wife Louise McElroy.
As his health declined with Parkinson's he moved to Jackson, CA in late 2019 for his care.
