He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Kelley Shields; his siblings, Erikka Blankenship, John Shields, Cordell Zuill, Nickolas Shields and Jayden Freidt; and his girlfriend Lisa Ko. He was also cherished by numerous aunts and uncles, and a cousin.
He believed in giving to charity and most recently gave a monetary gift to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
