He was predeceased by: his parents, William Joseph Barnes and Vivian Prosper Barnes; and his former spouses, William Barnes Jr., Thaddeus Leon and Harvey Barnes.

He is survived by: his wife Jeannette Elaine Wilson Barnes; his children, Albert Barnes Jr., Madlyne Bobo and Alexander Barnes; his adoptive daughter Sophia Barnes; his children, Sabrina Abram, Wiley Scrutchins, Kim Williams, Ceaira Folse and Erick Shabali; and his grandchildren, Jermaine Barnes, Brittney-Joy Frias, Alexander Barnes Jr., Emmanuel Bobo, Aaryn Barnes, Alyx Barnes and Alfred Josiah Bobo III. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
