He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Salter and Anna Salter (Homola); his brother Henry R. "Bud" Salter; and his wife Alice Jean Salter (Jackson). He is survived by: his brother James Salter (Mary); his children, Richard J. Salter, Jr. (Sally) of Irvine, CA, William A. Salter (Diane) of Torrance, CA, Theresa A. (Salter) and Carper (George) of The Woodlands, TX; his grandchildren, Shannon Salter, Kathryn Salter Manchester (Brian) of Ft. Collins, CO, Alexander Salter (Lauren) of Lubbock, TX, Richard "James" Salter III of Irvine, CA and Summer Carper of Denver, CO; and his great grandchildren, Preston Howard, Rowan Salter and Leo Manchester. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
