It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Chizuko Horii of Huntington Beach, California, born in Venice, California, who passed away on August 13, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Shuichi Saisho and Kiyono Saisho; her husband Akio Horii; her brothers, Shehei Saisho and Samy Isamu; her siblings-in-law, Fae Haruko Saisho and Fred Ushijima (Mary); her niece Catherine Sugai (Alan); and her husband Tomi Terakami.
She is survived by: her sister-in-law Mary Ushijima; her son-in-law Alan Sugai; her grandchildren, Christopher Horii (Terica), Amanda Riley, Adam Cates, Braelyn Cates, Taylor Landgren (Nicole) and Dillan Landgren (Victoria); her great grandchildren, Wyatt Landgren, Emily Landgren, Hannah Chizuko Horii, Amy Landgren, Derek Akio Horii and Leo Landgren; and also Chris Horii (Kari). She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
