He was predeceased by: his parents, Maria Olinda Sousa and Mario Cardoso; his brothers, Teodoro and Manuel Cardoso; and his brother-in-law Antonio Arnaldo Silveira.

He is survived by: his children, Melissa Cardoso (Delia) of Escalon, John Manuel Cardoso (Jenna) of Wendell Idaho, Cassandra Cardoso of Galt and Marisol Cardoso of Galt; his stepdaughters, Daniela and Presilla; his siblings, Norberto Cardoso (Maria) of Escalon, Angelo Cardoso (Dawna) of Hilmar, Angela Oliveira (Luis) of Gustine, Guilhermina Azevedo (Aldevino) of Turlock and Urbana Silveira of Ceres; his grandsons, Giovanni, Preston and Peyton Cardoso; and also Adriana Almanza of Galt. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
