It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Arthur Mervin Naftaly of Hayward, California, who passed away on February 18, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. I grew up about six houses down the hill from the Naftaly family and will always treasure the years I walked up to their house and Art answered the door. He would tell Phil, “Gordy-poo is here.” He’s the only person I ever allowed to call me “Gordy-poo,” though no one else ever thought to. Art was a gentle and kind man. I never heard him raise his voice in anger. He was a great role model for me and probably the entire neighborhood. Hugs to all.”
