He was predeceased by: his parents, Katsunosuke Miya and Harue Miya; his siblings, Yoichi, Kiyoshi, Tom, Frank, Hideko (Umino), Kazuko and Yoshi (Miyake); his niece Laraine; and his nephews, David (Umino) and Paul (Umino).

He is survived by: his wife Nancy (Mitsuyoshi); his children, Michael (Fe), Mark (Eri) and Melynda; his grandchildren, Lyzah, Kari, Mitchell, Max, Emma, Ava and Ally; and his caregivers, Marcy, Elizabeth and Monica.
