Richard Warren Armstrong Obituary

Instead of sorrow or grief, I submit this obituary in honored remembrance of my grandfather and hero Richard Warren Armstrong (Glendora, California), affectionately called Poppy, who passed away on April 18, 2017, at the age of 66, after a long and stubborn fight with cancer. He was cared for in his last days by his devoted and loving wife of 38 years, Susan E. Armstrong. He has given those who knew him, family and friends, an incredibly inspiring and hopeful legacy, most closely to the aforementioned Susan, his daughter April, and grandchildren Garrett and Colby.

“I only found out about Richard‘s passing today when I randomly looked him up to see where he was. I was totally heartbroken to learn of his passing 💔😪💔 He employed me at Rancho Air in Upland, California for seven years and was the best boss I could’ve ever hoped for. He often allowed me to make extra money gardening at his home on the weekends he was extremely generous funny and a very caring person. I’m extremely sad to learn of his passing I just can’t believe it 😓 Rest In Peace ☮️”

“Poppy as he was affectionately known was the father figure I needed in my life growing up, and he was the best one I could have asked for. He was and is the most charitable and kind person I've ever had the pleasure to know so personally and who sacrificed so much to help his family, employees, and strangers without expecting thanks, then sit and watch golf with a beer at the end of the day. I am regretful I only realize these things when it's too late, but I will always cherish these memories.”

Jim Duffy wrote a sympathy message

“Susan and Family, It has been many years since we last talked and I just learned the sad news about Richard's passing. He was a great friend and I regret that I did not stay in better communication. I often think about Richard and some of the crazy things we used to do. I'm still amazed that we all survived high school. Your wedding was a great day and I remember how excited Richard was to be married to you. I was proud to be his best man. My condolences to you and your family. Jim Duffy.”
