He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Russ and Elvira Russ; and his brother Donald Russ. He is survived by: his wife Irene Russ of Redondo Beach; his children, Cynthia Cottrell (John Pena), Anne Russ (Andreas Lang), Linda Niezgodzki (Dan), Janette Roberts and David Russ (Debbie); his grandchildren, Bryan Grosh (Vivian Ramos Grosh), Michelle Hemingway (Jerry), Michael Cottrell, Michelle Cloud (Erik), Paul Wisecaver, Carl Wisecaver (Brandi) and Joshua Bettencourt (Jill); and his great grandchildren, Jax Cloud, Jemma Wisecaver, Ryan Myles, Alyssa Myles and Sophia Bettencourt.

“Ed was an exceptional man. I got to know him back in the 1970s when he was Gardena Mayor and I was Editor of the Gardena Valley News. He was a class act. The last time I saw him was around 20 years, when I was President of the Banning Kiwanis Club and editor of the Banning/Beaumont Record Gazette. Four members of our Banning Kiwanis Club paid an interclub visit to the Gardena Kiwanis Club. Ed was there and made a couple of nice comments about me. I returned in kind. He was a good guy”
